Andrea Swanson received her bachelor’s degree from University of Alaska, in Anchorage. She completed her master’s degree in counseling psychology at Alaska Pacific University. While working towards her degree, she interned at AK Child & Family and worked at Covenant House Alaska. After completing her master’s degree in the spring of 2017, Andrea worked with Family Centered Services of Alaska and most recently, Alaska Family Services. She has experience working in school settings with both elementary and high school youth. Her counseling practice is inclusive, non-discriminatory, and oriented to individual strengths, resilience, healing and is focused on the emotional health of the families she counsels. She enjoys working with children, teens, and young adults.

Andrea was born and raised in Alaska, but has also lived in England and Idaho. Living and attending school in these geographically diverse places guided her to become compassionate, empathetic, and curious about other cultures and ways of life. When she’s not working, Andrea enjoys hiking and snow-machining with her partner, Matt, and their dog, Abby. Creativity is her passion, and she can often be found in her stained glass studio or at her potter’s wheel.
